Three CD collection by the influential Blues/Rock great best known for writing 'After Midnight' and 'Cocaine', two tracks that Eric Clapton brought to the masses with successful cover versions. Cale's own recordings are rootsy, laid-back affairs that are exciting, spine-tingling and filled with rough world-weary honesty. 's is an excellent single-disc collection from one of the most influential singer/songwriters to emerge from America during the '70s. Just as and define Texas songwriting, is the epitome of the Oklahoma writers. Although most people know him as the writer of 's hit 'Cocaine,' constantly offered up other quality material that could only be defined by his vocal style, which can accurately be described as 'reclining in the groove.' Popular tunes such as 'Call Me the Breeze,' 'Hey Baby' and 'Crazy Mama' have a deceptively laid-back intensity that to a large degree influenced such rockers as of and the previously mentioned.
's guitar work proved to be influential as well (again on ), but also popular swamp rockers such as. Offers a comprehensive collection from 's early-'70s recordings in Nashville, to Muscle Shoals in Alabama, to his later work on Hollywood. If you're going to explore 's groove, this is the place to start.

CALE This is an anthology tune (You will find a MP3 demo at the url above). It was the first one of the first JJ Cale's album in 1972 ('Naturally') and was released also in a few others among which 'The Very Best of JJ Cale'. It has been covered by Lynyrd Skynyd. It is Rock'n'Roll tinged with Country.
There are three guitars and a bass. The solo is particularly interesting. Here we step out far from the pentatonic path. Not only the blue note is there but also all the colours of the rainbow.
I tabbed the three guitars: two rhythm guitars and the solo guitar. I also tabbed the bass. The tune consists of four verses of 12 bars, the third being only instrumental. The solo plays all along, punctuating each sung sentence and naturally all along the third verse. The tonality is F sharp. ( F#, B and C#) All guitars are in standard tuning.
The first rhythm guitar is called LEAD RHYTHM in my tab. It is supposed to be played with a CAPO at the SECOND FRET. It is played in a very classical manner with the little finger doing all the job. To play it fast enough you have to alternate downstrokes and upstrokes.
The second rhythm guitar is called CLEAR RHYTHM here. It is played on the 4 first strings. The solo guitar is slightly overdriven. ( Or more according to your personal taste.) You will first find the tabs for the first 3 instruments ( 2 rhythms and bass) for the 12 bars that keep repeating 4 times in the course of the tune with very few variants.
That is to say all 4 verses are played the same way for those 3 instruments. LEGEND: h: hammer-on p: pull-off /: slide-up: slide-down ^^: let ring (n): optional : strum quickly XbY: bend at the X fret until it sounds like Y ( X Y: you start from the bended position ) Xb: bend moderalety n: linger on this note (rough way of noting rhythm!) You will find first the 12 bars with the two rhythm guitars that you use all along the tune. Then the complete solo. LEAD RHYTHM: CAPO at the 2nd FRET.
